Apokria – Excursion to Belfast
Dear Members and Friends of the Hellenic Community,
We would like to inform you that the Hellenic Community of Ireland is interested in organising a trip to Belfast in order to join an exciting event of the local Hellenic Community to celebrate Carnival (please see the attached). The event takes place on Sunday 21st of February and all the proceeds will go for the support of the Greek School in N. Ireland. The departure time would be at 11:00am from the Greek Orthodox Church (46 Arbour Hill, Dublin) and the arrival back to Dublin will be around midnight, with a small minibus for driving people without a transportation back home. As the bus arrangements would have to be settled before and the seat availability is limited, we would like you to notify us of your will to join as soon as possible.
The cost of the bus fare is €20 per person and the fee should be paid before Sunday 14th of February. For payments please contact the Vice President of our Community Mr Michael Youlton at 086 815 9487 or vice-president@helleniccommunity.ie.
Hellenic Community News
Dear members and friends of the Hellenic Community,
For your information:
- Cutting of the Hellenic Community St. Basil’s cake (or New Year’s cake). The cutting of the HC St Basil’s cake will happen on Sunday 31 January in the Greek school at 12:30pm after the Devine Liturgy. The cutting of St. Basil’s cake is a ancient tradition, delivered to us from our forefathers, which we aim to perpetuate and in turn hand to our children (http://www.vasilopita.com/story.html). All are welcome. After the cutting of St. Basil’s cake we will hold an informal General Asembly meeting of our members for information purposes.
- Commencement of Greek traditional dance classes. The dance classes will recommence on Monday 25 January at 19:30 at the Greek school. All are welcome.
- Greek Kafeneion. The kafeneion will be open on Sunday 24 January from 14:45 until 19:00 for the football games between Aris and PAO and between Olympiakos and PAOK.
Best regards

Extraordinary General Meeting
Dear Members,
Please be advised that we call an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Hellenic Community on Saturday 12 December at 2 p.m. We regret that the attached file is only in Greek, where more details on the need for this meeting are described. The EGM will be dealing with only two issues, that is (a) the acceptance by the General Assembly of the motion of the consensual enrolment of our Greek Orthodox members to the polling catalogue of our Greek Orthodox Church and (b) the approval of the newly proposed Trustees (Mr Tsouros and Prof. Florides) of the church property by the General Assembly.
Members who are unable to attend, should communicate their views to the President in this email address before Saturday.
Warm Regards
On behalf of the Management Board
